Cheesy Pull Apart Garlic Bread

This cheesy pull apart garlic bread is so much better than the garlic bread you’d find at the refrigerated section of the supermarket. Not only does it taste better (of course!), it also looks great that it could be the centrepiece at the dinner table. It’s great for parties too!

Now, you can do this the long way and start off by making your own bread. I’m taking a short cut and using store bought sourdough. I’m not ashamed to admit that. As much as I love baking my own bread, when I get cravings for cheesy garlic bread, there is no time to wait for bread dough to proof!

So let’s get started. There is no time to waste!

You’ll need:

  • 1 crusty loaf, I am using sourdough bread
  • 100g butter, slightly salted
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp freshly chopped parsley
  • 300g cheese, sliced/ shredded – I used a combination of emmental and mozzarella

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Using a serrated knife, cut the bread in a crosshatch pattern, careful not to cut all the way through to the bottom of the crust.

Melt the butter in the microwave or in a saucepan over the stove top. Add the mince garlic and sprinkle in the parsley.

Brush the garlic butter all over the bread.

Use your fingers to pry open the cut and make sure that the crevices too gets a generous coat of the garlic butter.

Stuff the cheese in between the cracks. More is more. My doctor says I need my calcium.

Wrap the bread in foil and bake for 15 mins. Unfold the foil and bake for an extra 15 mins until the cheese is fully melted and the bread crusty.

Remove from the oven and serve straight away.

The pull apart concept is meant “for sharing” so even though you can, please don’t eat the bread all to yourself. Share it and spread the love.xo
